Eighty Ninety, the Brooklyn based duo has released their new song, “The Hard Way” today. The duo consists of two brothers. Abner, who does vocals, and Harper, who does guitar. Together these two produce some incredible indie-pop songs. Their goal is to create intimate story telling with production mixed between acoustic and electronic instruments. They have been releasing music since 2016 and have gotten lots of recognition. The duo has wracked up an incredible 33 million streams, alongside the feature of their song, “Your Favorite Song” on music icon Taylor Swift’s “Songs Taylor Loves” playlist.  Their latest single, “The Hard Way,” is a raw love song. The boys stated, "'The Hard Way' is about choosing to love someone no matter how much life intervenes. It’s about being brave enough to make the choice to completely commit to a person, no matter the risk. It's about looking directly at all your fears about how things could go wrong and knowing that even if they all come to pass, it's still worth it."

Before hearing “The Hard Way,” I had not previously looked much into Eighty Ninety, but was thoroughly impressed by their sound. I’m a sucker for love songs and majority of indie music and this song was one of them. This song gives an amazing message and tells an incredible story through the listen about fighting through the hard times of a relationship. I truly related to the lyrics, how I’d do anything to keep certain people in my life, even if its a different type of relationship. The song has incredible production with a mix of piano and small synths and sound effects included in the back which I adore. The slight sound of the clock ticking in the background gives the song a more raw and intimate feel, like you’re being sang this song in a living room. Overall this song was executed perfectly and really blew me away with both the lyrics and the production. 

Eighty Ninety is an amazing duo and I highly reccommend giving their new single a listen! If you enjoy artists such as Owl City, Bastille, and Jon Bellion you'll love Eighty Ninety.
