Elijah Woods' latest addition to his discography is out today! Read all about what Kara had to say.

2010 was the year of many things. Some I remember vividly and some I don’t. The iPad was released by Apple, the Winter Olympics were held in Vancouver, One Direction was formed, Iron Man 2 was released, and Instagram launched… but possibly the most important fact of all is that 2010 was an era of indisputable, hanging out the window, screaming at the top of your lungs in cheap black sunglasses and an overly wide-necked shirt, MUSIC.

This was the year I fell in love with Kesha from her number one hit, “Tik Tok” and never looked back at her as my favorite female artist. This was also the year of summer staples (that still is to this day) such as “California Gurls” and “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry, “Airplanes” by B.o.B feat Haley Williams, “Bad Romance” and “Telephone” by Lady Gaga, “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus, and even “Fireflies” by Owl City.

While there’s an even more extensive list from that year that I’m sure all 90s and 2000s babies know by heart and will defend to death, this article is not about that. It’s about the everlasting effect the nostalgic era has on us and how it continues in music such as popstar Elijah Woods' newest single, “2 thousand 10”, reflecting the bright energy of that year and why we all miss it so much.

Elijah Woods is a highly acclaimed musician from Toronto who has multiple platinum and gold records under his belt and has amassed over 4 million monthly listeners on Spotify! He’s sold-out tours worldwide, including Asia, and is a passionate figure always expanding and growing his voice with every release; this release is no different.

“2 thousand 10” is a direct reminder of the year it’s named after having a similar pop structure with catchy, bright lyrics that every person can follow along to being a kid in that era or not. While Woods directly comments on his experiences of that summer and his current urges to race back, its relatable nature allows anyone seeking that joie de vivre inside of them to be free. It encapsulates the freedom of sunshine and partying with your friends. While on the shorter side, a 2-minute song, it’s an anthem to be played over and over for all of your summer journeys or to sit at home and reminisce about the good old times. Maybe in 2038, we’ll want to relive 2024 and throw on Elijah Woods' song; screaming it at the top of our lungs.
