From TikTok virality to a headlining tour, Molly Grace is redefining queer pop with bold energy and unapologetic authenticity.

Molly Grace is taking the indie-pop world by storm, skyrocketing to fame after a snippet of her bold new single, "F.E.M.M.E.,” went viral on TikTok. With over 200,000 monthly Spotify listeners and counting, Molly is proving herself to be a magnetic force in the music scene, captivating fans with her infectious energy and unapologetically authentic sound. Her latest single, “F.E.M.M.E.,” is a vibrant anthem that challenges stereotypes and celebrates the beauty of queer individuality. It’s a call to embrace confidence and self-love without conforming to anyone’s expectations. Drawing inspiration from powerhouse artists like Chappell Roan, Renee Rapp, and Remi Wolf, Molly seamlessly fuses pop, funk, and disco to create a sound that’s as empowering as addictive.

We had the privilege of catching up with Molly to dive deeper into the creative magic behind “F.E.M.M.E.” and her journey as one of indie pop’s most exciting new voices.

Bella: What was the creative process like for F.E.M.M.E?

Molly: I came up with the idea for “F.E.M.M.E.” when I was driving. I just thought it would be fun to write an acronym song, to be honest. I came up with the “fabulous, enticing, magnetic, magical, everything” acronym and didn’t think too much of it. Then I had a co-write with my friend, Kate Cosentino, and floated the idea by her, and she loved it. She was the perfect person to write this song with because she’s such a funny, smart writer.

Liv: Who and where do you find your inspiration when creating music?

Molly: I mostly draw inspiration from my own experiences, and the experiences of those close to me. Even when I’m writing about somebody else or even something completely fictional, there’s always a kernel of my truth in there. I think it’s nearly impossible to write without letting my own lived experiences bleed in there, and that’s what makes my music sound like me no matter what I’m writing about.

Bella: What was it like to see the response from fans and new admirers to “F.E.M.M.E” even before its release, and how does it feel now that the song is officially out?

I can’t even describe it—it’s so overwhelming in the most beautiful way. To see how much this song means to people from all walks of life… that’s priceless. It’s hard for me to even conceptualize “virality” because everything’s happening on my tiny screen, but it hits the hardest for me in the real world. I’ve been recognized a few times, and have gotten messages from so many fans telling me how much they love the song. It’s really heartening.

Liv: You’re kicking off the year with a headlining tour! How does it feel to hit the road again, and what are you most excited about for this tour?

Yay, yes, I am! I am so excited to hit the road again. I think touring is my favorite part of being an artist—it’s definitely where I shine the brightest. For this tour, we’re stepping the production up—using tracks—which means more background vocals! yay!!) and adding some instrumental transitions and just making it super theatrical. I’m excited for the fans to experience it.

Liv: Our music magazine is all about fans, and we were wondering if you have any heartfelt or funny fan stories that you would be willing to share with us.

I’ll give you one heartfelt and one funny; how’s that?

For the heartfelt story, I had a fan last year that I ran into before the show, and they were crying to me because they just lost their brother. They said that they hadn’t been able to leave the house, but they were looking forward to just dressing up and dancing at the show. My goal has always been to create a space of joy and empowerment, and it meant so much to me that I could be their escape for the evening—that’s the magic of live music.

And a funny one is that I had two fans (and they were dating!) come to my show for their anniversary, and part of one of the girlfriend’s gifts to the other girlfriend is that I (with consent, of course) would sign the other girlfriend’s boobs. I love those fans; we still DM back and forth. LOL

Bella: What are some milestones you are hoping to achieve this year?

Molly: I mean, I’ve already achieved one—New Music Friday on Spotify!! I want to release an album, I want to play a major festival, I want to open for an artist I admire, and I want to connect with as many fans as possible on tour. Let me just throw a crazy one out there, too. I want to play a late-night show! :)

A huge thank you to Molly Grace for taking the time to chat with us and to her team for making this interview possible. If you’re a fan of artists like Chappell Roan, Claire Rosinkranz, or Remi Wolf, you’re bound to fall in love with Molly’s incredible sound and energy!
